Grace’s Tuesday morning Sewing Circle meets monthly to lovingly craft quilts, lap blankets, bed pads, and other warm items. These goods are then donated through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America to Lutheran World Relief for dispersement to refugees and people in need around the world, and also to McHenry County nursing homes to provide warmth and comfort to local eldery residents. Clean fabric and filling (new or used from old sheets, clothing, etc.) for the quilts are donated by our Grace members and are always welcome. For more information on our Sewing Circle or to donate materials, contact the church office at 815/338-0554.
THE SEWING CIRCLE NEEDS ASSISTANCE—We are in need of helpers in our Sewing Circle. With so many of our members on the prayer list, we cannot continue making items for Lutheran World Relief, nursing homes etc., without your help. Contact Marge Birk to learn more. In addition, the Sewing circle is looking for a few gently used sewing machines.
Do you have a sewing machine in good working order that you could donate? They will except either cabinet style or portable
machines, as long as it works and can sew a simple stich forward and backward. Each year these ladies make hundreds of projects from quilts to neck pillows to walker bags that they donate to our community and around the world. Contact the office if you have a machine you can donate.
SEWING CIRCLE UPDATE—The Sewing Circle recently sent 38 quilts to Lutheran World Relief. We also delivered 195 walker bags, 78 lap robes, 48 crocheted lap robes, 73 poly bags, 42 small pillows, 11 neck rests and 47 bibs to area nursing homes. Donations of sheets, blankets, material, yarn, towels and nylons are much appreciated.
